Industrial Training

Industrial Training is a compulsory course for all Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree programmes under the Faculty of Creative Multimedia & Computing. The purpose of this course is to provide students with real-world exposure to the working environment, particularly in their respective areas of specialization. Through industrial training, students are able to apply the knowledge and technical skills they have acquired at the university in a practical, hands-on setting. This experience allows them to understand how theories are implemented in real-life situations while enhancing essential soft skills such as communication, leadership, time management, problem-solving and teamwork.

Industrial training is more than just an opportunity to gain work experience. It is a valuable stepping stone that helps students build the confidence they need before taking their first steps into the professional world. During the training period, students are guided by an industry supervisor who is responsible for monitoring their progress and performance. At the same time, an academic supervisor from the faculty will periodically review and evaluate the students’ development to ensure that the training aligns with the course objectives and academic requirements. This close collaboration between the faculty and the industry ensures that every student gains maximum benefit from their industrial training experience. As it is a mandatory graduation requirement, industrial training forms a crucial part of experiential learning, shaping graduates who are competitive and well-prepared to face the challenges of the professional world.

For the Diploma in Multimedia, Diploma in Computer Science, Bachelor of Creative Multimedia (Interactive Media), Bachelor of Creative Multimedia (Digital Design) and Bachelor of Information Systems programmes, the industrial training duration is three (3) months. Meanwhile, for the Bachelor of Information Technology (Network Technology) programme, the training period is four (4) months. All these programmes conduct industrial training in the final semester, allowing students to conclude their academic journey with a meaningful work experience directly relevant to their field.

To ensure a smooth training process, students are advised to refer to the Industrial Training Schedule issued by the Faculty’s Industrial Training Coordinator each semester. This guide is essential in helping students prepare in advance, identify suitable training locations, understand implementation procedures and comply with all regulations and guidelines set by the faculty. With proper planning and well-organized execution, industrial training can be an invaluable learning experience and a key stepping stone towards a successful career in the future.
